Snow Day

There is something magical about a snow day. It’s as if the world stops for a moment and you have the most precious gift of all, time. There’s no place you have to be, nothing you have to do, nothing that really has to be done because… it’s snowing.

This morning I got up to my son squealing “SNOW!! LOOK MOMMY!! SNOW!!” We brought out the snow box, dressed up and walked around as the snow drifts blanketed us with white flurries. We threw some snowballs and tried to make a snowman (it ended up in a snowball fight) and then ran in to the house shucking off our clothes as we dove into a warm bed to watch cartoons.

Now, I’m watching my son and my husband building a Hot Wheels Stunt track and racing cars across our living room as the fire flickers in the fireplace.

As I sip my coffee and look outside the window I see the trees stylishly draped in white, snowflakes whipping around, the icicles hanging from the roof and feel such a wonderful sense of peace and contentment.

Here’s hoping you have a blessed snow day, too.
