Budget: Recommitment
The hard thing about budgeting isn’t the budget. I mean after you take the weeks to put it together, then refine it, it’s pretty much done. The hard part is having the guts to stick to it,

There is something magical about a snow day. It’s as if the world stops for a moment and you have the most precious gift of all, time. There’s no place you have to be, nothing you have to do, nothing that really has to be done because… it’s snowing.
Every time I drive into Seattle, I’m always taken aback by how little I recognize my hometown. We decided we would #RevisitSeattle and see how much it’s changed. Today’s Adventure was the Volunteer Park Conservatory.
Having a plan means all my grocery shopping is done in two hours while my son is at preschool. The food in my freezer is added in to the weekly rotation and there’s no food being wasted. My fridge isn’t overflowing and I’m not running out to the store to get the one ingredient that turns into $50 of impulse groceries I didn’t really need.
With 2019 being the year of the slashed budget, we’ve found ourselves getting more creative in our outings as a family, finding fun things to do together that are inexpensive and sometimes (other than gas) free.
For most of us, debt isn’t one big bill or a huge investment that goes awry. It’s in the ‘Oh, it’s just $10’, ‘That’s not bad for $20’, ‘Well I don’t really need it, but it’s only $5’ range of spending. It’s that extra trip to the grocery store for milk that turns into $60, the extra toys that were on sale, all the extras ‘stuff’ we didn’t need, but wanted. All those extras add up quick, and if it’s on a credit card, it keeps adding up every month until it’s paid off.
Ralph Waldo Emmerson said it best: “For each new morning with it’s Light, For rest and shelter of the night, For health and food, for love and friends, For Everything Thy goodness sends. Father in heaven, we thank Thee.” Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Confession time. I’ve been wanting to make the Pottery Barn Santa Canvas for a couple of years now. His jolly face starts showing up in my Pinterest feed starting in September, taunting me until the end of January when Easter DIY takes over. This year Santa’s smiling face and jaunty hat will be MINE!
My husband and I always create a list of the top three things we want to do on vacation. My number one was the Dolphin Encounter in Cabo San Lucas. The thought of three generations of my family being able to touch, kiss and dance with these beautiful and intelligent creatures was a memory I just had to create.
My husband and I are all about once-in-a-lifetime experiences while on vacation. With both our son and Nagymama (his Grandma) on the trip with us, we wanted epic. When I saw the Baby Sea Turtle Release Activity through Cabo Adventures while I was planning our vacation, I knew I’d found epic.
